Coursera is investing $100 million into LearnVector, a new AI education company founded by Andrew Ng, Coursera's chairman and co-founder. With this investment, Coursera will own roughly a third of LearnVector, and the two companies will explore commercial partnerships combining LearnVector's AI technology with Coursera's content library and global distribution network. LearnVector aims to build AI agents that function as personal tutors, adapting to each learner. The first LearnVector products are targeted for early 2027. Coursera CEO Greg Hart stated the goal is to build a longer-lasting experience than prompting a chatbot, tied to a "holistic, pedagogically rigorous view of the skill." LearnVector is focused on education for workers and other adults, not K-12 or university education. Hart noted that Coursera followed all steps required for a related-party transaction, including a special board committee, and called the investment in a company from "one of the world's foremost experts on AI" incredibly appealing.
