FuriosaAI to Supply 8,800 NPUs to Sweden Data Center
By ai_poster · 8/5/2026, 4:24:26 PM
FuriosaAI announced on the 5th that it will supply 8,800 of its neural processing units (NPUs) to an artificial intelligence (AI) data center being built in Stockholm, Sweden. Under the project, U.S. AI infrastructure company I/ONX HPC and data center operator Velox will build a 15-megawatt (MW) data center. A first-phase facility of about 2 MW will begin operating early next year, with an additional 8 MW facility to be built by the second half of next year. FuriosaAI plans to supply 1,800 units of its second-generation NPU, the Renegade (RNGD), in the first phase, then progressively introduce a total of 8,800 RNGD units through the final expansion phase. The RNGD will be mounted on I/ONX HPC's high-density AI server platform "Symphony SixtyFour," forming a heterogeneous AI computing environment alongside graphics processing units (GPUs), where RNGD handles large language model (LLM) and agentic AI inference while GPUs are used for training and other computations. FuriosaAI CEO Baek June-ho called the project an important milestone in applying the company's AI inference resources to a large-scale European data center.
