Yahoo launched a new artificial intelligence, Yahoo Scout, in early 2026 to power its Yahoo 100 trending list, which uses the AI to identify emerging stories and generate summaries. The list is generated from sources including Anthropic’s Claude, Microsoft’s Bing, Yahoo’s own data, and Yahoo editors. Over the last three months, the content leading the list each morning contained only 3% right-leaning stories. Yahoo revealed that Yahoo Scout’s “primary foundational AI model” is Claude, and that it leverages Microsoft Bing’s grounding API for visual citations. MRC research found that Claude cited international law in condemning President Donald Trump’s arrest of Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro, omitted mention of his drug-trafficking operations, and repeated left-wing talking points about race and stolen land regarding the country’s 250th anniversary. The Washington Post found that when tested with 30 questions, Claude never presented an exclusively right-leaning position, but promoted exclusively left-leaning positions 43% of the time.
