OpenAI has launched a new services firm and a $150 million partner program to enhance the deployment of AI models in enterprise settings. The moves, reported by The Wall Street Journal on July 22, include the formation of a standalone services company, the OpenAI Deployment Co., staffed with engineers who work on-site inside client organizations. The $150 million partner program extends OpenAI's reach through third-party implementers, while DeployCo is a direct-delivery firm putting OpenAI's own technical talent inside the customer's environment. Both rely on forward deployed engineers, who co-develop applications alongside client staff and hand off a working system. Arnaud Fournier, chief technology officer of DeployCo, told the Journal there has never been a greater gap between what AI models can do and what enterprises are actually using them for. DeployCo launched in May 2026 with the acquisition of Tomoro, bringing roughly 150 engineers, and a subsequent acquisition of Northslope pushed the FDE headcount into the hundreds. The firm is prioritizing organizations with existing OpenAI relationships. BBVA, the Madrid-based bank, offers an early illustration: Fran Martínez López, head of risk transformation, told the Journal an OpenAI engineer helped build a new AI application for credit risk analysis, a project the bank had worked on for months before the engagement accelerated it.
