AWS Launches 'Continuum' — AI Detects Vulnerabilities and Drafts Fixe…

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has rolled out a security service that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to automate the software vulnerability response process, verifying whether a vulnerability can actually be exploited, determining response order by weighing how close it sits to a company's critical systems, and generating remediation code. AWS said on the 5th that it has officially launched "AWS Continuum for code vulnerabilities," an AI-based code security service designed so that AI takes over much of the work security staff previously had to do themselves, including deciding which alerts to tackle first among a flood of warnings. The core of AWS Continuum is the "context graph," a technology that weaves together a customer's code repositories and AWS environment data to map dependencies between systems, network configurations, and data access paths as a single map; when a customer sets up a collector in the account and region where the code runs, the collector gathers information on various resources, including AWS Config resources and network configurations, to complete the graph. On top of this graph, the service assesses whether a vulnerability is reachable over the network and how far a threat actor could penetrate from that point, and it identifies business-critical systems, the owner of each system, dependencies between services, and the data each service handles, singling out high-value assets such as customer data stores, payment pipelines, and authentication services and then prioritizing based on how close an attack path is to those assets. AI is also deployed for verification: each finding is analyzed against the context of the
