At NVIDIA this summer, Kshitiz Khatri (Class of 2027), a student at The University of Virginia Darden School of Business, is working as a product management intern on the accelerated computing GPU team. Before Darden, Khatri spent five years working in semiconductors. His internship focuses on business questions behind AI technology, including how hardware performs, how much power it uses, and what it costs for data centers. Khatri learned that the bigger cost structure includes GPUs, networking, cooling, storage, memory and other components, contrary to his prior assumption that electricity would be the biggest cost. His first year at Darden, particularly accounting and finance courses, helped him understand complex cost models for data centers involving spreadsheets, discounted cash flow analysis, depreciation assumptions and financial reports. Khatri noted, “Without the finance one and two core courses, I would have not been able to capture the meaning of those cost models.” The case method trained him to take on unfamiliar problems and contribute to discussions, which he applied to studying tokenomics and sharing findings with NVIDIA teams. The internship has helped clarify his career path after Darden.
