OpenAI's Voice Assistant 'Dots' at 159,000 Won a Month: From a Phone …

OpenAI unveiled its voice-based AI agent Dots on September 29, offered in South Korea only to ChatGPT Pro subscribers at a minimum monthly fee of 159,000 won (approximately $120). Users assign tasks by speaking as if on a phone call, and the AI remembers context and handles multiple jobs at once; work continues after the conversation ends, with the AI notifying users when finished. In coding, Dots has been observed opening a new chat window and composing a more specific prompt on its own from a vague instruction. Drawbacks include the voice changing with every call and formal and informal speech mixing together. Conversations with Dots do not draw down the default token allowance. Dots runs on GPT6-Astra. Separately, OpenAI released a new ChatGPT model, Terra 6.1, on October 26 (U.S. time), available to Plus, Pro, Enterprise and Edu users in ChatGPT Work and Codex, with developer access via API; it supports video analysis and editing and conversion of drawings into 3D models, and processing costs per API call have fallen overall. In a real-world work test, given five tasks at once, it produced results in just 26 seconds, though quality varied markedly by task, including a 921-word article against the requested 800 and one or two of 10 interview questions lacking depth.
