A modder using the "Ultimate" tier of Nvidia's GeForce NOW cloud gaming service gained full access to the Windows desktop through an exploit, allowing him to run local AI models on the rented hardware. The exploit begins with an I2P (Install-to-Play) game downloaded from Steam, in this case Trove. The user opens the built-in browser via the publisher's name, navigates to the C: drive through the address bar, and hijacks the index. The main executable's path is copied from the steamapps folder, and the file is replaced with a decoy that deceives Steam into launching a modified executable developed by modder dpadGuy, which opens the desktop instead. Once inside, it is a full Windows environment with no apparent restrictions, as shown in a video where Zortos installs Wallpaper Engine and customizes the taskbar. However, some users report discrepancies, such as GeForce NOW closing the session when File Explorer opens or blocking file downloads. Zortos insists the exploit still works and says persistent storage keeps it active between sessions. The exploit requires a paid tier and is against Nvidia's terms of service, risking account bans. The Ultimate tier provides access to 48GB of VRAM via an RTX Pro 6000D, though running local AI models is limited by session rate limits.
