Google Home is rolling out a new update through its early access program, improving the app, Gemini voice commands, and camera features. Voice assistant upgrades include faster performance for timers, lists, and alarms, better filtering of accidental hotword triggers and background speech, and faster media controls for Spotify and YouTube. Gemini can now answer questions about currently-playing media. The update also brings Gemini for Home to all users in a household, including kids. For Nest Cam and other Google Home cameras, Gemini AI will improve Familiar Faces by "automatically updating your Familiar Face library to save the most recent and accurate examples," and audio will be used for event descriptions like "dogs barking, alarms, or footsteps." The Google Home Android app is getting a faster camera event interface, while the iOS app will have a faster and smoother timeline. Most Nest Thermostat models can now automatically detect potential HVAC system issues and allow contact for service.
