Executives in tech and business hold differing views on what AI means for early-career roles, with Anthropic's CEO warning the tech could eliminate many entry-level positions while others argue younger employees may thrive in an AI-powered workplace. Felix Aidala, an economist at the Indeed Hiring Lab, said "a lot of the disagreement is centered around the speed that the AI transition will take place." Entry-level job postings on Indeed have fallen about 6% over the past year, though Aidala noted it is difficult to attribute the decline to any single factor, with AI, remote work, and broader macroeconomic conditions likely playing a role. He added that the job market for entry-level workers is already seeing "AI-driven shifts," with AI implementation roles growing "significantly" on Indeed's site in recent months. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has repeatedly said that AI may eliminate up to half of entry-level white-collar jobs over the next several years. In contrast, Amazon Web Services CEO Matt Garman said he believes half of white-collar jobs "may change" but not disappear, and called replacing entry-level staff with AI tools "one of the dumbest things" he's ever heard.
