Anthropic has introduced Indian rupee (INR) billing for its Claude AI subscription plans, allowing customers in India to pay directly in local currency instead of U.S. dollars. The move applies to Claude Pro, Claude Max, and Claude Team plans and is designed to simplify payments, eliminate foreign exchange charges, and make the AI assistant more accessible. With the rollout, Indian users will see subscription prices displayed in rupees, with GST included in the listed price. The free version of Claude remains available, while paid users gain access to higher usage limits, priority access to Anthropic’s latest AI models, and advanced features such as Claude Code and premium reasoning capabilities. Subscription pricing includes Claude Pro at ₹1,999/month, with Claude Max and Claude Team having local INR pricing available. Previously, Indian customers subscribing to Claude had to pay in U.S. dollars, often resulting in foreign exchange conversion charges, international transaction fees, currency fluctuations, and additional banking costs. India has become one of the fastest-growing markets for generative AI, driven by a large developer community, rapid enterprise AI adoption, expanding startup ecosystem, growing demand for coding assistants, and increasing use of AI in education and business.
