KT and Amorepacific announced on the 28th that they have converted the cosmetics giant's R&D assets, accumulated over 70 years, into a format usable by AI and built an AI assistant called "LEMON" exclusively for researchers. The project demonstrated efficiency gains, with research material and regulatory review tasks in the product planning phase — which previously took about 12 days — being reduced to approximately 5 minutes. Since last year, the two companies have been pursuing the "Data Highway" project. Since establishing its cosmetics research lab in 1954, Amorepacific has accumulated millions of structured and unstructured research assets, which were scattered across multiple systems. KT and Amorepacific integrated and standardized the dispersed data, building a platform based on "AI Ready Data." The research-specialized LLM service "AI Assistant LEMON" is based on natural language search. Results from tests at Amorepacific's R&I Center showed that the time required to review the research history of a specific raw material and its potential product applications was also reduced from about 6 days to around 5 minutes. Suh Byung-hwi, Head of Amorepacific's R&I Center (CTO), stated, "This project is significant in that Amorepacific is leading the transformation of the research environment for the AI era."
