ChatGPT resumes WhatsApp access in Europe
By ai_poster · 7/14/2026, 12:05:51 AM
ChatGPT announced on Monday that it is "available again on WhatsApp in the European Economic Area (EEA)," which includes the European Union plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. Users can message the verified 1-800-CHATGPT contact to "ask questions, upload images, send voice notes, create images" and interact in multiple languages. OpenAI added that ChatGPT is "now also on Kakao in South Korea and Viber in supported markets." The return follows the European Commission's June 9 decision ordering Meta to restore free WhatsApp access for rival AI assistants while its antitrust investigation continues. The Commission said Meta "at first sight" abused its "dominant position" by restricting competing AI assistants' access to WhatsApp, risking "serious and irreparable harm" to competition.
