In the second quarter of this year (Q2 2026), Samsung topped the DRAM market with a 39% market share, marking a comeback after losing leadership to SK Hynix in the same period last year. According to Counterpoint Global Memory Tracker, SK Hynix, the Q2 2025 winner, slipped to 26% despite a 214% year-over-year increase in quarterly revenue. Senior Analyst Jeongku Choi noted Samsung benefited from robust demand and price hikes in conventional DRAM and is expanding its share in the HBM segment, with further earnings growth expected following additional price hikes in the third quarter. SK Hynix recorded good earnings but grew slower as Samsung and Micron squeezed its market share. CXMT emerged as the fastest-growing DRAM supplier with 716% year-over-year growth, driven by strong domestic demand for conventional DRAM and expanding capacity. An analyst highlighted that a key factor in the second half of the year would be how CXMT leverages its recent IPO to boost capacity expansion for HBM and LPPDR6 to meet Chinese and global demand.
