Microsoft and Amazon lead the top five hyperscalers in artificial intelligence spending across four analyses—planned AI infrastructure spending, funding methods, balance sheet capacity, and verifiable payoff—with the same ranking emerging each time. Microsoft funds its build from cash flow, carries the cleanest balance sheet, and discloses real AI numbers. Amazon borrows more but backs it with a strong cash engine and a $25 billion chip business on named contracts. Alphabet earns third place, holding enormous cash reserves, a dominant AI franchise, and its own chips, but is held back by a stretched income statement and a refusal to break out AI revenue. Meta comes fourth, with the best proof of working AI revenue generation, yet its cash cushion is thin, debt is rapidly climbing, and financial details remain under wraps. Oracle trails on nearly every measure, with the weakest balance sheet, heaviest single-customer risk, and murkiest disclosure policy, though it has the largest backlog, concentrated in a single customer. The ranking reflects durability and transparency, not value, and market caps or valuations were not considered.
