The platform went live on July 1, 2026. Meta Business Agent, announced globally on June 3, 2026, at the Conversations 2026 conference in London, is an AI system capable of autonomous, multi-step actions including answering questions, recommending products, booking appointments, qualifying sales leads, and closing transactions within conversations. Over a million businesses were already using an earlier version in pilot markets including India, Mexico, and Brazil. Meta reports more than a billion active conversation threads between businesses and customers across WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram every day. The June 3 announcement expanded the agent to businesses of all sizes worldwide and added Instagram. The agent learns from a business's chat history, website, product catalog, and Facebook page, and offers a morning briefing feature currently limited to a test group on WhatsApp Business, Instagram Pro, Messenger, and Meta Business Suite. Token-based pricing means businesses pay more for longer, more complex conversations and less for short, simple ones.
