CarbonSix CEO Moon Tae-yeon declared 2026 the inaugural year for mass production of manufacturing-specialized physical AI, stating that competition will shift from model quality to mass production cases on factory floors. In an interview at the company’s Seoul office on the 16th of last month, Moon said last year focused on proof-of-concept, while this year marks the first time revenue is generated from actual mass production lines. He emphasized a target revenue of 10 billion won (approximately $7.1 million) this year. CarbonSix develops SigmaKit, a software platform that upgrades existing industrial and collaborative robots with AI to perform unstructured tasks, avoiding the need for new robots or manual reprogramming. Founded last year by Moon, a co-founder of AI machine vision company SUALAB, the startup has deployed SigmaKit on production lines at Taerim Industries and is discussing a “demo factory” for regional manufacturers. The company has secured contracts with over 20 clients, mostly South Korean manufacturers, and is expanding into sectors including automotive, semiconductors, displays, electronics, biotech, food, and chemicals. Moon noted that global physical AI companies compete on model performance but few have achieved large-scale mass production, and he aims to build a virtuous cycle where on-site data enhances AI performance.
