Samsung announced its new AI health assistant on July 21, entering a crowded market that includes Whoop, Oura, Fitbit (owned by Google), and a reportedly upcoming Apple version. Samsung believes its edge is its ecosystem, where devices like phones, watches, smart lights, and refrigerators feed data into one system. Senior vice president Dr. Hon Pak explained that connected data will allow more contextualized user engagement. For example, if smart lights stay on until 11:30 p.m., the system might infer a late bedtime and adjust sleep recommendations. To mitigate risks of bad AI health advice, Samsung is partnering with the NIH, CDC, and MIT. Users can opt in while Samsung works out the kinks. This follows Samsung’s 2025 acquisition of Xealth, which connects hospitals to wearable data. Dr. Pak described a scenario where physicians could order behavioral changes, with the system automatically monitoring adherence and sending results back to the doctor. Future updates will add Vitals, Daily Cardio Load, a Heart Health Score, Vascular Load, and a Fitness Index.
