Billionaire investor Ray Dalio cautioned against overreliance on artificial intelligence, arguing that machine-learning systems can identify patterns without truly understanding the logic behind them. In a post on X, Dalio warned that investors and decision-makers should not place blind faith in AI models, stating, "Remember that computers have no common sense" and that computers could easily "misconstrue" relationships between events. He said he prefers "fewer bets (ideally uncorrelated ones) in which I am highly confident" and considers it essential to understand and defend the reasoning behind his decisions. Dalio added, "A lot of people vest their blind faith in machine learning because they find it much easier than developing deep understanding." The article also noted that earlier this month, more than 40% of U.S. workers were using AI on the job, but experts warned overreliance could weaken critical thinking. Microsoft Corp. CEO Satya Nadella warned that companies risked losing proprietary knowledge through AI use. Meanwhile, billionaire entrepreneur Mark Cuban urged companies to develop AI skills, warning that businesses that failed to adapt could struggle.
