ZF has unveiled a new portfolio of intelligent technologies designed to accelerate the transformation of commercial vehicles into software-defined, AI-enabled mobility platforms, demonstrated at the company’s Commercial Vehicle (CV) Tech Day 2026 at its test track near Hanover, ahead of the IAA Transportation 2026 exhibition. The technologies focus on enhancing vehicle safety, operational efficiency and fleet productivity while supporting a transition towards connected, automated and zero-emission transportation. ZF developed a flexible technology strategy combining scalable electronic architectures, integrated safety systems, intelligent software and modular electrification technologies adaptable to different vehicle categories and regional requirements, enabling OEMs and fleet operators to improve vehicle performance throughout the product lifecycle without complete platform redesigns. The modular approach helps enhance safety, increase uptime, optimise energy efficiency and reduce total cost of ownership. Advanced digital systems enable predictive maintenance and support gradual introduction of autonomous driving capabilities, with artificial intelligence enhancing vehicle safety and decision-making. The modular architecture supports heavy-duty trucks, distribution vehicles and city buses, accommodating conventional, hybrid and fully electric propulsion systems. Andreas Moser, Member of the ZF Board of Management and Head of the Commercial Vehicle Solutions Division, stated the industry is moving toward intelligent, connected and sustainable mobility, though transformation pace differs across regions and applications.
