In the inaugural Gemini Report: Southeast Asia 2026 conducted by Google online, Indonesia is the most creative country using Gemini-based artificial intelligence in Southeast Asia, producing almost nine million images every day. The report reviews adoption in six countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. "In Indonesia, one out of every three prompts is purely creative," said Vice President, Southeast Asia and South Asia Frontier Google, Sapna Chadha. As many as 82 percent of Gemini prompts in Indonesia come from mobile devices, while one in two commands has involved multimodal input such as voice or images. Regionally, about 40 percent of queries submitted by Gemini users in Southeast Asia aim to generate new works. In the past year, users in the region have produced five billion images using the Nano Banana image maker model, and almost 1 million songs have been created since Google introduced Lyria 3. The number of active Gemini app users in the region has more than doubled in the past year, supported by a young, technologically literate population and Gemini's ability to understand local languages.
