Kylie Jenner, aged 28, announced on Tuesday a collaboration with Facebook and Meta on AI-powered smart sunglasses called the Starfire Kylies, priced at $399. The glasses, released alongside two other styles as part of Meta’s Muse Spark AI program, include standard Meta-glasses features like a built-in camera and speaker for photos, videos, and music, and can use AI to help users “better understand what you’re seeing and help manage your daily life effortlessly.” Jenner’s version can also AI-generate her voice to whisper phrases like her “Rise and shine” from a 2019 YouTube video. Despite widespread privacy concerns about smart glasses, including reports of women being secretly recorded, Meta has celebrity buy-in from Doja Cat and Teyana Taylor. The Starfire Kylies do not feature facial recognition.
