Hyundai Motor Group is expanding beyond automobile manufacturing by partnering with Nvidia and other global technology companies to build an ecosystem for humanoid robots and physical artificial intelligence. Speaking at the San Francisco AI Summit on Friday, Executive Chair Chung Eui-sun said the group is transforming into a provider of physical AI solutions spanning autonomous driving, robotics and AI-powered manufacturing. Hyundai Motor and Nvidia will jointly develop a robot reference platform combining Hyundai’s robotics technologies with Nvidia’s AI software and development tools, providing standardized hardware and software for startups, universities and research institutes. Hyundai Motor also outlined a broader roadmap including partnerships with Waymo and Google DeepMind. Building on its agreement to secure 50,000 Nvidia graphics processing units, the company plans to accelerate digital twin technologies and autonomous driving systems. Under a strategic partnership with Waymo, Hyundai Motor will manufacture autonomous driving-ready versions of the Ioniq 5 at its Georgia plant for deployment in Waymo’s robotaxi fleet. Boston Dynamics, owned by Hyundai Motor Group, is collaborating with Google DeepMind to develop next-generation humanoid robots.
