AdRoll today opened a pilot letting a selected group of its customers buy sponsored placements inside ChatGPT, six months after OpenAI began selling advertising in the assistant. The San Francisco advertising platform, which dropped the NextRoll corporate name in August 2025, said a limited set of AdRoll and AdRoll ABM customers can test advertising in ChatGPT. The announcement, dated August 11, 2026, describes participants as small and mid-sized businesses, mid-market advertisers and business-to-business marketers. Access is deliberately gated, available only to a select group and not broadly across the full customer base; interested existing customers are directed to their AdRoll customer success manager. The company disclosed no participant count, spend commitment, pricing detail, performance figures, or named pilot advertisers, nor when or whether the pilot widens. AdRoll said it will help participants understand how conversational AI advertising fits within the customer journey and works alongside existing media investments, supplying campaign expertise and support. Vibhor Kapoor, chief executive officer, said conversational AI platforms enable marketers to participate in moments when options are discovered, preferences formed, and decisions take shape, helping SMB, mid-market and B2B advertisers approach this as part of a connected strategy. Hans Fischmann, vice president of product, said the early signal is encouraging and ChatGPT is showing up across awareness and performance goals, though no metric accompanied his assessment.
