A 2026 TD AI Insights Report survey found that nearly 80% of respondents said AI adoption in the workplace is inevitable. Among those already using AI at work, 59% said it makes them more productive, and 58% said it gives them a competitive advantage. However, nearly one in three Canadians polled admitted to overstating their AI abilities as workplace expectations rise. Most respondents (75%) rated their AI skill level as a “C” or lower, with only 4% giving themselves an A. Luke Gee, Senior Vice President, Chief Analytics and AI Officer at TD, said the AI future will reward curiosity and demand adaptability. To develop better AI skills, professionals at Layer 6 recommend practicing with available tools, such as prompting an AI chatbot for a meal plan or summarizing a complex document. Melanie Burns, Senior Executive Vice-President and Chief Human Resources Officer at TD Bank, said organizations must help people develop new skills as technology evolves.
