A new AI feature in Gmail, part of Google Workspace Studio Flows, can filter emails but is limited by how many emails it will process before it stops. The feature was announced in December as part of Google Workspace Studio, a tool for automating tasks, and was initially unavailable to the $20/mo Google AI Pro plan. As of late May and June, a side-panel update propagated across "premium" user accounts, including those paying for the $20/mo Google AI Pro or the $100/mo Google AI Ultra service. Clicking a new icon opens a Flow side panel; scripts created are called "Flows." Google provides starter scripts, and clicking "Do more in Studio" presents more sample options, such as "Get news headlines summarized daily." The flows work with Chat, Docs, Meet, and more, but the Gmail filter system upgrade is highlighted. The feature makes buying AI Pro worth it except for the limitations, which nerfs the value for heavy email users.
