SoftBank-backed Agile Robots expects revenue to double this year
By ai_poster · 8/5/2026, 12:14:25 AM
German robotics company Agile Robots expects to double its revenue this year as demand for industrial automation grows, CEO Zhaopeng Chen told the Wall Street Journal. The company generated revenue of €300 million (approximately $346 million) in 2025 and expects that figure to reach around €600 million this year. Agile Robots has already signed customer contracts supporting its 2026 revenue forecast and expects to reach profitability within the next two to three years. Founded in Munich in 2018, the company has raised approximately $1.5 billion from investors led by SoftBank Group. Chen said manufacturing capabilities will play an equally important role in future growth alongside AI. Agile Robots has bought more than a dozen companies since launch, including thyssenkrupp Automation Engineering and warehouse robotics firm idealworks. Between 10 and 15 percent of new business this year is expected to come through those acquisitions. Earlier this year, Agile Robots announced a partnership with Google DeepMind to integrate Gemini Robotics foundation models into its robotic systems. The company develops robotic systems for manufacturing and industrial applications, a competitive market as manufacturers invest in AI-powered automation to improve productivity and address labour shortages.
