Apple is significantly expanding its semiconductor supply agreement with Broadcom and deepening collaboration on artificial intelligence server chip development. The contract is expected to exceed $30 billion (~45.2 trillion won). According to Bloomberg on the 8th (local time), Apple announced plans to produce more than 15 billion semiconductors in the United States by 2031 through its partnership with Broadcom. The agreement includes a $1.5 billion (~2.3 trillion won) investment to expand Broadcom's production facility in Fort Collins, Colorado. This announcement marks the first time specific investment figures have been disclosed since Broadcom stated on the 6th that the companies' contract had been extended through 2031. This investment falls under Apple's previously announced $600 billion U.S. investment plan. Notably, the two companies are also collaborating on technology for Apple's first dedicated AI server chip, expected to debut as early as next year. On the back of this large-scale contract news, Broadcom shares surged 4.8% on the New York Stock Exchange to close at $388.69, marking its largest single-day gain since May 14. Apple shares rose less than 1%.
