Tesla Inc. CEO Elon Musk touted the high American-made content in the Model 3 and Model Y vehicles, citing a ranking by Cars.com shared in a post on X by influencer Sawyer Merritt on Tuesday. The Tesla Model Y and Model 3 were the top two vehicles, followed by Stellantis NV’s Jeep Gladiator and Grand Cherokee, as well as Honda Motor Co. Ltd. Ridgeline and Odyssey. Merritt’s post said, “This is the sixth year in a row that Tesla has claimed the most American-made vehicle.” Musk quoted the post, stating, “Tesla Model 3 and Model Y have the highest percentage of American-made content!” This comes amid uncertainty over the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement’s future, with Trump expressing doubts over renewing the USMCA and U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer saying tariffs on Mexico’s auto and steel industries would remain despite renegotiations slated to end July 1st 2026. Separately, estimates from Cox Automotive suggested over 85,000 EVs were likely sold in the U.S. last month, and Tesla recorded sales growth in multiple markets, including a 22% increase in China and a 655% surge in France to 5,446 vehicles during May.
