Google released three new Artificial Intelligence "experiments" in its Arts & Culture App on Wednesday, developed in its Paris lab to make art and photography archives more accessible. The tools use AI algorithms to uncover cultural connections hidden in large archives. The first experiment, Art Palette, lets users select colors to generate classic and modern artwork, with designer Paul Smith testing the feature. The second, Life Tags, allows users to search LIFE magazine's photo archive, which "stretches 6,000 feet (about 1,800 meters) across three warehouses." The third experiment uses machine learning to identify unnamed works of modern art in 30,000 photos documenting MoMA's exhibitions since its opening in 1929, turning the repository into an interactive archive. The app previously gained popularity for matching user selfies with famous artworks.
