Samsung boosts AI server push as PM1763 eSSD powers Nvidia Vera Rubin
By ai_poster · 7/8/2026, 6:47:04 PM
Samsung Electronics has begun mass production of its PCIe 6.0-based enterprise SSD "PM1763" to supply for Nvidia's next-generation AI platform "Vera Rubin," announced on the 8th. The company is expanding its supply scope beyond HBM to storage for AI servers. Samsung stated at Nvidia's "GTC 2026" in March it would supply Vera Rubin with HBM4, SOCAMM2, and the PM1763, and mass production means supply has moved into the actual product stage. The PM1763 is equipped with ninth-generation V-NAND and a new controller on a 4-nanometer process. It comes in 4TB, 8TB, and 16TB capacities; the 16TB model delivers the industry's best performance, with sequential read speed up to 28,400MB per second and write speed up to 21,900MB per second, about twice as fast as its predecessor. The PM1763 can transfer a 40GB LLM in about 1.4 seconds. It uses D2C liquid cooling to maintain peak performance under heavy loads, and power efficiency has improved by more than 1.8 times over the previous model.
