Haloid Connects ChatGPT Voice AI to Analog Two-Way Radios, Bridging A…

Haloid Solutions announced it has integrated OpenAI's real-time voice AI, ChatGPT's Voice, with conventional land mobile radio (LMR) systems, allowing radio users to speak with the AI platform over existing channels and hardware. Haloid is the first company to publicly demonstrate this capability on standard LMR radios. In a demonstration, engineers connected four analog portable radios to OpenAI's Realtime API using off-the-shelf hardware and custom software, translating live radio traffic between languages and returning GPS-equipped vehicle locations in response to spoken queries. John Pershing, Managing Director at Haloid Solutions, said the integration aims to democratize AI for all LMR users, noting that within a week of ordering the service, organizations from a small church to a large police agency can connect their radios to AI. Radio owners can connect existing LMR radios and repeaters without overhauling systems, keeping current fleets. The AI voice platform can operate as a virtual dispatcher on a shared channel or dedicated talkgroup, handling translation, information lookups, and logging. Haloid supports analog, P25, and DMR systems. The AI layer runs in software, connecting to existing dispatch, asset tracking, work-order, and inventory systems for live operational data. Haloid provides hardware interfacing and software integration, allowing pilots without large capital outlay. Supported use cases include live language translation, virtual dispatch, call logging and transcription, and voice-driven enterprise queries. Haloid is inviting businesses and government agencies to join its AI Beta
