Wings Credit Union, based in Apple Valley, has hired Scott Kuhlman as its first chief AI and innovation officer. In this new role, Kuhlman will lead the credit union’s strategy for artificial intelligence and enterprise innovation, focusing on delivering meaningful value for members and employees to improve efficiency, enhance decision-making, and support team members in creating more capacity for high-impact work. Kuhlman and his team will partner with internal departments including data, finance, IT, learning and development, product, and risk. Kuhlman previously served as Wings’ chief capital officer and deputy chief financial officer and was selected for this role due to his experience with AI-enabled scenario modeling, business process knowledge, and builder’s mindset. The credit union already leverages AI in streamlining the member experience and analysis efforts. Dedicated executive AI roles are uncommon in the credit union industry, even as AI adoption accelerates across financial services.
