Lightstorm, Microsoft, Singtel, and Tata Communications have signed contracts to build the I-2SEA submarine cable system connecting India, Malaysia, and Singapore. The 3,600 km cable, designed for AI and hyperscaler workloads, will land at Machilipatnam and South Chennai in India, with NEC Corporation as system supplier and ASEAN Cableship Pte Ltd as marine installation partner. Targeting Q4 2029 readiness, it aims to deliver the fastest connectivity on the Singapore/Malaysia–Hyderabad corridor, integrating Lightstorm's SmartNet AI Fabric platform across more than 80 data centres. Lightstorm, as majority owner, will operate the Indian landing stations and provide seamless onward reach via its 30,000+ km terrestrial network.
