AI developer Sakana AI has launched "Sakana Namazu," a large language model (LLM) adapted for Japanese language and business customs, based on the open-source model "Kimi K2.6." The model features improved processing of honorific speech (keigo) and business documents, and is provided via an API with an OpenAI-compatible interface, allowing integration by changing connection settings and modifying a few lines of code. Pricing is usage-based with no monthly fixed fees: $0.95 per million input tokens, $4.00 per million output tokens, and $0.15 per million tokens for cached inputs. Web searches cost $7.00 per 1,000 queries, and code execution costs $0.12 per hour. Payments are primarily in U.S. dollars, but corporate plans can settle in Japanese yen. Benchmark tests showed the model largely maintained performance on "AIME26," "MMLU-Pro," and "LiveCodeBench v6" compared to Kimi K2.6, while scoring 1.5% higher on "JFBench" for Japanese instruction comprehension. On "FairPoliticsQA," which assesses politically neutral outputs, the score improved by 22.2 points, rising from 34.10% to 56.30%. Sakana AI used proprietary internal data to adapt the model to Japanese business contexts, enabling natural text generation that respects honorifics and business customs, with applications including drafting quotations, contracts, and customer service
