Ferrovial and NTT DATA, building on a 2023 strategic agreement that established the Center of Excellence for Digital Infrastructure Solutions, developed a multimodal AI solution (VLM/MLLM) that analyzes images and video for continuous infrastructure monitoring. The solution achieved 69% accuracy in video interpretation in real-world scenarios and provides detailed report generation and alert identification in seconds. Ferrovial needed a centralized, scalable technology solution to monitor infrastructure agilely, accelerate processes, minimize delays and costs, and provide real-time visibility for decision-making, specifically to assess multimodal AI for video analysis in construction and highway use cases. NTT DATA developed a proof of concept (PoC) using data from real-world cameras, first analyzing recorded footage in controlled environments before extending to live video for continuous monitoring. The tool detects patterns, generates alerts, and delivers insights instantly, with capabilities including zero-shot flexibility across different scenarios. The solution is expected to incorporate additional data sources and be deployed in live production environments in the future.
