Anthropic is introducing machine-readable markings for content generated by its Claude AI models, with new models launched in the European Union from August 2, 2026 supporting the system from day one. The markings are designed to indicate that the content was generated by AI, and Claude-generated text will carry embedded watermarks. The move is part of Anthropic's commitments under the European Union's AI Act's Article 50(2) Code of Practice on Transparency of AI-Generated Content, which Anthropic has signed as a provider of generative AI models and systems.
