Tesla's FSD v14 Lite update, rolling out via software version 2026.20.6.11 to Hardware 3 vehicles starting July 23, provides a better supervised system with features like disabling brake confirmation, arrival options, and speed profiles, as well as fewer false slowdowns, smoother steering, and improved handling, but does not deliver the full self-driving promised. Tesla's support language states Full Self-Driving is supervised and does not make the vehicle autonomous. After Tesla's Q1 2026 earnings call, it was reported that HW3 vehicles won't be capable of unsupervised Full Self-Driving due to hardware limitations. Elon Musk said it will make sense to upgrade older vehicles with cameras to next-generation hardware, after Tesla outlined trade-in discounts and computer-and-camera replacements. Not a Tesla App estimated a paid hardware upgrade could land around $3,000 to $5,000. Some buyers paid as much as $15,000 for the FSD package before Tesla moved to subscription only.
