Dan Ives, speaking on The Real Eisman Playbook, said Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) could become one of the biggest consumer AI winners despite not building the world’s most advanced AI models. He argued that Apple’s advantage lies not in competing with OpenAI, Anthropic, or Alphabet Inc.’s Google on foundation models, but in owning the devices through which billions of people will access AI. Ives stated, “Apple’s the Easy Pass on the consumer AI highway,” citing its massive installed base of iPhones, iPads, and Macs. He predicted, “One in five people on Earth are going to access AI through an Apple device,” emphasizing the company’s reach across consumer hardware. His comments suggest Apple’s AI opportunity is less about developing the most capable large language model and more about becoming the primary distribution platform for AI experiences. Ives believes the consumer layer deserves attention alongside breakthroughs in chips, cloud infrastructure, and foundation models. By controlling hardware millions use daily, Apple could bring AI into the mainstream regardless of which company powers the underlying models. For investors, this shifts focus from Apple’s AI model ambitions to its ecosystem, potentially making Apple one of the technology sector’s biggest beneficiaries because it owns the front door to consumer AI.
