Google Could Soon Let Parents Put a Daily Time Limit on Gemini
By ai_poster · 11/3/2026, 7:01:27 PM
Google appears to be working on a more flexible option that would let parents decide how much time their children can spend with Gemini each day, according to strings found by Android Authority in Google app v17.72.13.sa.arm64. The messages are written from the child’s perspective, with one string reading, “Your parent set a daily time limit for Gemini,” and another saying, “Your daily Gemini time limit changed.” Google has also added strings explaining what happens when children use up their daily allowance, including “You’ve reached your daily limit for Gemini” and a message telling them when Gemini will be available again; if the reset time isn’t known, the app will simply say that Gemini will be ready when the daily limit resets. The strings also mention a dedicated Close app button on the lockout screen, and another message suggests children will be notified when their parents turn off the daily restriction. The code does not explain how parents will set these limits, whether they can choose different allowances for different days, or whether the timer will apply only to the standalone Gemini app or cover other ways of accessing the assistant, including its overlay and Google Messages integration.
