How Xero Cuts Manual Workflows Using Microsoft 365 Copilot
By ai_poster · 7/13/2026, 6:48:16 PM
Xero has introduced a direct link with Microsoft 365 to inject live financial data into everyday office applications, placing its proprietary AI financial superagent, JAX, inside Microsoft 365 Copilot to automate workflows for accountants and small firms. The system addresses productivity drains caused by disconnected software platforms by placing live accounts inside Excel, Word, and PowerPoint to eliminate data fragmentation and manual data entry. The Excel integration populates spreadsheets automatically with structured tables using live software information, removing the need for manual CSV exports and data cleaning. Diya Jolly, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Xero, stated that the integration changes how businesses work by bringing financial intelligence from JAX to customers when needed. In PowerPoint, the system automatically generates slides with native charts, revenue trends, and metrics like top customer rankings. In Word, it creates automated narrative paragraphs and pre-formatted report segments, enabling users to insert live accounts receivable summaries into loan applications and board packs. The Copilot Chat feature uses JAX to deliver text summaries and quick action confirmations, allowing finance specialists to check outstanding debts and issue payment reminders. Bryan Allen, Director of Product Marketing, Microsoft 365 Copilot at Microsoft, noted that with financial intelligence from Xero accessible in Microsoft 365, customers will have real-time, data-backed insights in the apps they already use daily.
