CodeRabbit, an AI code review start-up backed by Nvidia, announced a Series C funding round of $143m, bringing its valuation to $1.5bn. The round was co-led by Atomico and Smash Capital, with participation from new investors including BMW i Ventures, Datadog and Hirtle Callaghan. Established in 2023, CodeRabbit is headquartered in California and has an additional office in London. The company offers an AI-powered coding tool that automatically reviews code as it is being written. CodeRabbit intends to use the new capital to accelerate international expansion, advance research and product development, expand its Europe-based workforce, and extend into Asia, with a focus on Japan and Singapore. Atomico partner Luca Eisenstecken, who will soon join CodeRabbit’s board, said organisations will increasingly need independent governance layers to validate software regardless of which model produced it. CEO and co-founder Harjot Gill said the company pioneered AI code review to give teams an independent system that validates work before it ships. The announcement follows a recent surge of interest in coding tools, with Sweden’s Lovable valued at $13.3bn after raising $400m, and Replit raising $400m in a Series D round at a $9bn valuation.
