Kakao Mobility, South Korean Army to Develop AI-Based Control System …
By ai_poster · 11/4/2026, 4:23:45 PM
Kakao Mobility said on November 3 that it signed a memorandum of understanding with the Republic of Korea Army at Army Headquarters in Gyeryong, South Chungcheong Province, to develop artificial intelligence technology for integrated control of drones, robots and unmanned ground vehicles. Attendees included Kakao Mobility CEO Ryu Geung-seon and Army Headquarters Policy Director Maj. Gen. Lee Kyung-jin. The agreement is linked to the Army's Army TIGER+ initiative, which aims to bring civilian AI technologies into military operations. The two sides plan to combine Kakao Mobility's platform management expertise with Army operational data to jointly research and test AI-based control systems tailored to defense applications, with the central objective of operating multiple types of unmanned vehicles through a single system. Kakao Mobility plans to adapt its real-time route planning, mobility demand forecasting, distributed control of multiple vehicles, and autonomous driving and robotics management technologies for military environments, supporting a one-to-many operating model in which a single operator manages multiple unmanned systems. Over the longer term, they aim to establish the foundation for a defense mobility operating system capable of coordinating and controlling drones, robots and other unmanned assets on the battlefield. The two sides will establish testing environments around the Army's AI Transformation hubs in Pangyo and Daejeon and jointly research an integrated control platform tailored to military requirements. The partnership also covers military dispatch systems and dedicated applications, and testing ways to improve operational efficiency of military vehicles and transport assets using Kakao Mobility
