Claude’s Chrome side panel is now a full Cowork session - 9to5Mac

Anthropic announced that Claude’s Chrome side panel is now a full Cowork session, allowing browser-based tasks and conversations to follow users across Claude’s other apps. Conversations started in the side panel are now saved to Claude history and can be resumed from the Claude desktop, web, and mobile apps. Skills and connectors already configured for an account also work from the browser without additional setup. Claude in Chrome can see the current page and act on it using a person’s existing browser logins, including clicking links, moving between pages, entering text, and filling out forms. Anthropic’s example involves asking Claude to collect invoice details from several vendor portals, build a spreadsheet, then continuing the same session on desktop to add local files or compare the result with a previous budget. The update closes a gap in Claude’s browser workflow, as side panel sessions previously remained separate from sessions in Claude’s other apps. Anthropic warns that browser agents remain vulnerable to prompt injection, and a separate check reviews consequential actions when automatic approval is enabled, while Claude still asks before actions such as purchases or sharing personal data. The Cowork side panel is available today for Max and Team customers, with a Pro rollout planned over the coming weeks. Enterprise administrators can enable it and restrict access to approved domains. Claude in Chrome does not yet support other Chromium browsers or mobile devices.
