Social Capital co-founder Chamath Palihapitiya said he would pick SpaceX over OpenAI and Anthropic in the artificial intelligence race, citing SpaceX's "most broad optionality." During an interview with Axios, Palihapitiya acknowledged that Anthropic had a "superior product" and noted his firm uses it as a foundational model, while he uses ChatGPT as a consumer. He argued that these competitors are "single lines of business" tied to enterprise or consumer adoption, whereas SpaceX has "extremely different set of revenue streams." He pointed to Starlink, stating the world's communications infrastructure is "profoundly broken" and SpaceX will "get the plurality" of a refresh cycle. He also projected an "equivalent form" of Earth-based businesses elsewhere in the solar system, calling it "huge embedded optionality." Separately, OpenAI was reportedly considering offering the Trump administration a 5% equity stake. SpaceX recently entered the Nasdaq 100 index, the fastest entry by any stock, though critics oppose it due to forced buying from index funds. Morgan Stanley analyst Adam Jonas outlined a bull case of $600/share for SpaceX and $3.3 trillion in revenue by 2040.
