AMD ZenDNN 6.0 Boosts AI Inference on EPYC CPUs
By ai_poster · 7/11/2026, 6:14:32 PM
AMD launched ZenDNN 6.0, the latest iteration of its open-source inference acceleration library optimized for Zen-based processors, on July 8, 2026. The update focuses on enhancing AI inference, with key upgrades including FP16 functional support, Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) model optimizations, and broader compatibility with large language models (LLMs). ZenDNN 6.0 introduces FP16 data path support for AMD's upcoming 6th Gen EPYC processors, with key operators like MatMul, BatchMatMul, and Embedding now including native FP16 paths. MoE-specific optimizations, such as fused operators and quantized MoE support, aim to streamline inference. Compatibility with vLLM has been significantly expanded, supporting vLLM versions 0.20.0 through 0.23.0, including zero-code-change acceleration. Additional upgrades include quantization enhancements with new tools for linear dispatch, LLM compressor integration, and DA8W8 support for MoE architectures, as well as framework modernization with compatibility for PyTorch.
