Govt to Upgrade AI Infrastructure Across Public Sector in 3-Year Plan
By ai_poster · 7/17/2026, 4:08:36 PM
The federal government has launched an initiative to strengthen artificial intelligence infrastructure across the public sector, with the National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) signing a three-year agreement with Data Vault Pakistan to provide High-Performance Graphics Processing Unit as a Service (GPUaaS) and Model as a Service (MaaS) for government institutions. NTC will deploy enterprise-grade NVIDIA licensed GPU hardware, including the H200, A100 and B200 series, at its secure, government-operated data centers to support AI training and inference workloads and host large language models including Llama 3.1, GPT OSS 20B, Qwen3 32B, Kimi K2, and text-to-speech services. The initiative aims to accelerate AI adoption across public-sector organizations while ensuring sensitive government data remains hosted in Pakistan under Pakistani jurisdiction. NTC Managing Director Maj Gen (R) Ali Farhan stated the project is designed to reduce reliance on public cloud infrastructure and protect Pakistan’s digital sovereignty. Data Vault Pakistan will implement the project with a 99.9 percent service availability commitment, supporting the government’s efforts to expand AI adoption, strengthen national digital infrastructure, and improve digital public services.
