The Delhi High Court issued an interim order protecting former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh's personality rights against AI misuse. Justice Jyoti Singh found that Singh had made out a prima facie case for an ex parte ad interim injunction, with the balance of convenience in his favour and a risk of irreparable harm if protection were denied. The Court restrained defendants, including unidentified “John Doe” entities, from using, reproducing, publishing, or exploiting Singh's name, image, voice, likeness, or other personality attributes without authorisation for commercial or personal gain, including content generated through Artificial Intelligence, Generative AI, machine learning, deepfakes, AI chatbots, face morphing, and face swapping. The judge also prohibited the creation and dissemination of AI-generated or manipulated audio-visual depictions featuring the cricketer. The suit alleged that social media accounts published AI-generated images and videos portraying fabricated incidents, including a post falsely depicting Singh at the Golden Temple with his head uncovered, another showing a fellow cricketer touching his feet, and others portraying him as violent or abusive; a Reddit post allegedly attributed misogynistic views to him.
