Mexico's AI Ecosystem Enters a New Phase

Mexico's enterprise AI ecosystem reached an inflection point in the first half of 2026. Venture capital funding for Mexican startups surged 53% year over year to US$1.1 billion in 2025, surpassing Brazil for the first time in over a decade during 2Q25. Amazon Web Services reports that 38% of Mexican businesses now use AI, up from 29% the prior year. For the first time in 13 years, Mexico surpassed Brazil as Latin America's largest recipient of venture capital in a single quarter, recorded during 2Q25 when Mexican startups raised US$437 million against Brazil's US$350 million. Mexican startups raised US$1.1 billion in 2025, a 53% increase from the US$718 million recorded in 2024. Alcor estimates that Mexican AI startups alone raised US$600 million in 2024. Amazon Web Services committed US$5 billion to develop its Mexico Central cloud region, which launched in January 2025. Microsoft pledged US$1.3 billion over three years. Combined with Google's undisclosed allocation, the three companies directed over US$6.3 billion toward AI and cloud infrastructure. Salesforce added a US$1 billion five-year commitment announced in October 2025. Accenture opened its 25th global GenAI Studio in Mexico City in late 2024.
