Meta’s AI assistant Muse is now available on Mac, expanding the agent beyond its earlier launch on mobile and web. The desktop rollout allows Muse to interact directly with files, messages, calendars, notes and emails within users’ native Mac applications, enabling the assistant to take actions on a user’s behalf rather than simply responding to prompts. Announcing the launch on X, Meta Chief AI Officer Alexandr Wang said Muse can now help users “get stuff done right on your computer”, while emphasising that users remain in control of the information and applications the agent can access. The assistant also seeks user approval before carrying out sensitive actions. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg confirmed the rollout, noting that the team is “shipping fast.” Muse’s Mac availability comes as competition in the consumer AI agent space intensifies. Poke, which was acquired by Cognition in July, and Instinct are among the players developing AI agents designed to take actions for users rather than simply provide information. The competing platforms have also been adding voice capabilities, with Muse and Instinct introducing voice-calling features within the same week. The rapid rollout of such capabilities highlights the growing push among AI companies to make assistants more capable of handling tasks across users’ everyday digital environments.
